Monica Jackson
Lead Vocals
At only about 5 years old, Monica was already being influenced by the
likes of Patti LaBelle, Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye, and
Jennifer Holiday.
Monica got her first gig singing in "Peacock and the Gospel
Keys" a gospel band with her parents and numerous other family members
at the age of 13. She continued with this gig until her father passed
away in 1998.
Monica started her R&B career at the age of 19 with "Big
Time" a college circuit favorite for over 12 years. She toured
Virginia, Georgia, the Carolinas and as far North as New Jersey.
Although Big Time was primarily a cover band, they recorded a CD, and sold
it as they toured the East Coast. Throughout the years, Monica sang at
many weddings, funerals, shows (of various nature), and church
programs. She would also make an occasional appearance with
"Big Pat and Legion," a local jazz favorite. Monica had
basically resigned herself to singing at church and working a full time
(non-vocal) job, when as great fortune would have it, SoulerCoaster
and Monica
found each other in July of 2001.
Monica has been singing with SoulerCoaster
ever since, and has truly taken the band to a whole new level. With her
incredible range and dynamic on-stage personality, Monica and SoulerCoaster
are the best combination since peanut butter and jelly! And what the hell
is wrong with that!?! By the way, Jackson is not a stage name, she's the real
deal!
